Mark Your Calendar

I know I’ve been quiet on the blog, but Breast Cancer Awareness Month is fast approaching and I would regret not taking this opportunity to remind all the ladies (and the men too) that yearly check ups are so vital to our longevity. So many of us have been touched directly by cancer, and there will be many more touched by it.

I truly believe that I would not be here today if I had not been diligent about my annual well woman exams. My tumor was large, fast-spreading and sensitive to female hormones. How I managed to survive this through my 9-month pregnant with cancer journey was nothing short of a miracle.

So readers, please do this: Set a date each year (your birthday is a good day) to schedule your annual exam. This means annual physicals, too. Early cancer detection is KEY. I know we are all busier than we’d like to be, especially those that have families to raise. It’s easy to take care of everyone else and neglect yourselves, but as cancer continues to plague our lives in so many ways, shapes and forms, it is that much more important to take care of yourselves. Do it for yourself…and for those that love you.
